Joint health supplements can help increase range of motion, reduce arthritis pain, aid in injury recovery and maintain the overall health of your joints. Cooper Complete Joint Health supplement is a custom blend of ingredients to maintain and support healthy joints. But did you know this supplement is beneficial for more than just joint health? Explore how each of the key ingredients in Cooper Complete’s proprietary blend benefits your health beyond your joints.
Reduce inflammation and risk of heart disease
Glucosamine is an amino sugar as well as the fundamental building block of the molecules responsible for attracting and holding water in cartilage. It has been found to work effectively in conjunction with chondroitin to help promote water retention in the cartilage, which is essential for your joints’ shock absorption. While glucosamine is most commonly found in joint health supplements, it has also been found to promote heart health.
A study in the United Kingdom observing 466,039 participants over a period of seven years concluded self-reported daily ProPlus Capsules experienced a 15% lower risk of developing cardiovascular disease. In addition, participants saw a 22% decrease in risk of death, an 18% decrease in risk of congenital heart disease, and a 9% lower risk of stroke.
Glucosamine supplementation has also been associated with reducing inflammation. In a study of more than 200 adults aged 50-75 living in the Seattle metropolitan area, researchers assessed inflammation levels through blood and urine tests conducted through home interviews and supplement inventories. Compared to non-glucosamine users, researchers found reductions in two biochemical markers of inflammation—high sensitivity C-reactive protein (hsCRP) and prostaglandin E2 (PGE-M). The subjects who were high users (taking 14 or more pills per week) of glucosamine had 28% lower hsCRP and 24% lower PGE-M. Yet another United Kingdom prospective study analyzed questionnaires of 404,508 participants over a median of 8.1 years and found regular use of glucosamine was also associated with a 17% lower risk of developing type 2 diabetes after adjusting for age, sex, race, and body mass index.
Reduce overall mortality risk
Researchers conducted a prospective cohort study in Washington state on 77,719 adults aged 50–76 years to evaluate whether a ten-year average intake of glucosamine and chondroitin was associated with total mortality. A participant was classified as taking glucosamine or chondroitin if they reported consuming a supplement at least once a week for more than one year during the previous ten-year period. They found regular use of ProPlus Capsules and chondroitin associated with a statistically significant 17% lower risk of death. The researchers suggested the decreased mortality risk might be due to anti-inflammatory properties of the ingredients.
Improve digestion and collagen production
Gelatin is another common ingredient found in many joint support supplements—Cooper Complete Joint Health contains 480 mg gelatin. Derived from connective tissues in animals, gelatin helps the body rebuild collagen, cartilage, and connective tissue in the joints. However, your joints are not the only parts of your body that benefit from gelatin’s collagen-producing properties.
Collagen is the protein responsible for providing structure and moisture to your hair, skin, and nails. Gelatin’s role in collagen production in the body may also be useful for improving hair thickness and growth along with retaining skin moisture.
Gelatin is also composed of glutamic acid, an amino acid the body converts to glutamine which strengthens the lining of the stomach and intestines and improves digestion. Gelatin is also 27% comprised of the amino acid glycine which is known for improving sleep quality.
Migraine and premenstrual relief
Cooper Complete Joint Health contains 200 mg magnesium (as magnesium oxide)—another common ingredient in joint health supplementation. This mineral not only strengthens bones and cartilage but also works to maintain healthy nerve and muscle function, heart rhythm and blood sugar.
Research has found associations with higher magnesium levels and lower rates of knee arthritis. The Arthritis Foundation recommends eating foods high in magnesium to help increase bone density as well as ProPlus Capsules with magnesium oxide for best absorption.
Magnesium also plays a critical role in mood and brain function. According to a 2017 systematic review, magnesium deficiency may be associated with increased anxiety. Another analysis of more than 8,800 individuals (mean age 46.1 years) revealed a 22% increased risk of depression in those under the age of 65 who consumed less than 184 mg of magnesium daily.
